Frequently
Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about MAM accounts at XBTFX.
-
What is a MAM account?
MAM stands for Multi-Account Manager. It's a trading setup where a professional money manager executes trades on a single master account, and those trades are automatically mirrored to individual investor sub-accounts. Each investor keeps their funds in their own MT5 account — the manager trades on their behalf but never holds client capital.
-
How does MAM differ from PAMM?
In a PAMM account, investor capital is pooled into a single master account and the manager trades the combined balance. In a MAM account, each investor's funds stay in their own individual account, and the master's trades are mirrored with customizable allocation. MAM offers more flexibility — 6 allocation methods, per-investor settings, activation/deactivation, and reverse copy.
-
What allocation methods are available?
XBTFX MAM supports 6 methods: proportional by equity, proportional by balance, proportional by free margin, equity × multiplier (adjustable ratio per investor), lot allocation by ratio, and fixed lot. Each investor can be assigned a different method and ratio.
-
What fees can a MAM manager charge?
Five fee types: performance fees (% of profits with High Water Mark), volume fees (per lot), profit fees (winners only), management fees (% of AUM), and subscription fees (flat recurring). Combine multiple types and set different rates per investor.
-
Do investor funds stay in their own account?
Yes. Each investor's capital remains in their own individual MT5 account. The manager has trading authority but cannot access or withdraw client funds. Investors retain full control over deposits and withdrawals.
-
Can I skip specific investors on certain trades?
Yes. MAM managers can temporarily deactivate specific sub-accounts, excluding them from new trades without closing existing open positions. Useful for managing different risk tolerances across your client base.
-
What is reverse copy?
Reverse copy mirrors the master's trades in the opposite direction for a specific investor. If the master opens a buy, the investor gets a sell. Useful for inverse strategies, hedging, or specific risk management needs.
-
What currencies can I use?
MAM accounts can be denominated in USD, USDT (Tether), BTC (Bitcoin), ETH (Ethereum), or XRP (Ripple). Fees and PnL are calculated in the account's base currency.
-
What platform does XBTFX MAM use?
XBTFX MAM operates on MetaTrader 5 with Raw ECN account pricing. All master and sub-accounts get institutional-grade spreads from 0.0 pips.
-
Can investors see trades in their account?
Yes. MAM trades appear as real positions in the investor's own MT5 terminal — every open trade, entry price, lot size, and floating PnL visible in real time.
-
Can an investor disconnect at any time?
Yes. Investors can unsubscribe from a MAM manager instantly. No lock-in periods. Upon disconnection, the investor keeps their account with any open positions and full fund control.
-
Can I be both a manager and an investor?
Yes. You can run your own MAM master account while also investing in other managers' MAM or PAMM accounts.
